General Rosende of the Director General of Civil Aviation
(DGAC) told Econoff on June 1 that the Chileans do not have
specific candidates to recommend to succeed the Council
President and Secretary General positions of the ICAO (per
reftel). Rosende expects that the candidate will likely be
from Latin America, perhaps Mexico or Brazil. He also
commented that the candidate would need to be knowledgeable
about ICAO and not just a political appointee.
