SUBJECT: UN DEMOCRACY FUND: CZECHS WILL SIGN

Czech MFA UN Department Director Jan Kara told PolEcon Couns
on June 2 that the Czechs will sign the proposed letter to
the UNSYG asking him to establish the UN Democracy Fund. The
Czechs fully support the fund. Their only comment on the
draft letter, conveyed via the Czech UN Mission about two
weeks ago, was a suggestion to remove reference to the High
Level Event.
