¶1. (SBU) Poloff delivered ref demarche to Michal Svoboda,
Afghan desk officer for the Czech Ministry of Foreign
Affairs. Svoboda said that the Czech government most likely
would not be able to financially contribute to the
Afghanistan Compact, however he did say that his government
was interested in supporting US efforts in Afghanistan
through other means. He said that GOCR may offer to run a
Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) in Afghanistan and will
discuss this proposal in detail with US Embassy Prague in the
near future. Svoboda said that the GOCR does plan on sending
a representative to the January 31-February 1, 2006
Afghanistan Compact meeting in London, however they have not
yet decided who to send.
