1. (C) On December 13, POLOFF delivered the texts of the
President's and the Secretary's statements on the
assassination of Lebanese MP Gebran Tueni to Katerina
Moravcova, Deputy Director of the Czech MFA Middle East and
Africa Department and Pavel Koblizka, Head of the MFA's
Mediterranean Unit. Moravcova said that the MFA agreed, in
principle, with the condemnation of the Tueni murder.
However she said that the Czech Republic had already spoken
through the voice of the European Union, when it strongly
condemned the assassination. She promised to discuss a Czech
statement within the MFA.
