He commented that leaders in the United States and in Europe were committed to improving the transatlantic relationship, but seemed focused on addressing the relationship as an issue in itself. Instead they should concentrate on the kinds of substantive cooperation that could bring about an improvement. Particularly given the ongoing U.S. cooperation with the EU on Iran's nuclear capability.
