According to just-released figures from the Haitian Statistical Institute, overall inflation for November 2005 was 1.18 percent (a yearly rate of 15.1 percent). Inflation for the past 12 months was 15.9 percent. Much of November's rise was due to an increase in the housing, energy and water index, which was up 6.3 percent for the month. The politically sensitive price of food rose a more modest 0.6 percent. The inflation target in Haiti's IMF program, EPCA II, which began on October 1, is 10.0 percent.
