1. (C) Polmiloff informed Nonproliferation, Arms Control and
Disarmament Deputy Director Marina Laker of the new Executive
Order on Jun 30 and provided additional details in a
follow-up meeting on July 5. Laker welcomed USG's
supplemental background and said she would convey the
information to Assistant Deputy Minister Jim Wright who was
preparing his departure for the G-8 summit. She undertook to
disseminate the information on entities in the E.O. to
appropriate Canadian authorities, promising to contact us
with any subsequent reactions.
