SUBJECT: SHURA COUNCIL PASSES FTA

(U) The Shura Council, Bahrain's upper house, unanimously
passed the U.S. - Bahrain Free Trade Agreement (FTA) on July
¶11. With the July 5 passage of the FTA in the Council of
Representatives (reftel),Bahrain's lower house,
parliamentary ratification is complete. The FTA will now be
reviewed by the Cabinet, which is expected to recommend it to
the King for final approval.
