(SBU) Last night, Amcit Erin Cothran was medevaced to Accra and AmCit Rebecca Carter was medevaced to Johannesburg. Embassy Accra reported Ms. Carter had arrived safely and was undergoing further medical treatment at a local hospital. We also received news from RMO Johannesburg that Ms. Cothran had arrived safely without further deterioration of her condition and would undergo surgery at Milpark Hospital. -------------- --- Attempts to Reach Esswein's Parents Unsuccessful -------------- --- ¶3. (SBU) Mission spoke with Youth With A Mission team leader to arrange for delivery of Amcit Breanna Michelle Esswein's personal effects to her parents. Post has attempted several times to contact Ms. Esswein's parents to arrange for shipment of personal effects and to provide any further assistance. However, we have not been able to make contact with her parents and have only been able to leave messages on an answering machine at the California telephone number on file. -------------- Update on Sosoliso Amcit's Personal Effects -------------- ¶4. (SBU) Embassy Abuja has been in contact with officials from Doctors Without Borders who are arranging for shipment of Amcit Hawa Kamara's remains and personal effects to her parents in Liberia. Embassy Abuja also will contact Ms. Kamara's parents. Post has not yet received a response from Amcit Richard Udeozor's parents in Port Harcourt but will continue to follow-up. Mission continues to investigate the possibility of other Amcits on board the plane. -------------- Boeing Team Arrives -------------- ¶5. (SBU) Boeing personnel previously involved in investigating the October Bellview plane crash arrived in Lagos last night. They will now include the Sosoliso crash in their investigation. -------------- Action Request -------------- ¶6. (SBU) Post requests Department assistance reaching Ms. Esswein's parents.
