(C) CDA delivered reftel oral demarche by phone to the
Foreign Minister's Office Director Shaykh Ahmad Al-Sabah who
is in London with the Foreign Minister and subsequently to
MFA Acting U/S Khalid Babtain. Both reaffirmed GOK
commitment to political and financial support for the PA.
Babtain, referring to the Foreign Minister's statement that
the GOK wanted to see the formation of the new Palestinian
cabinet before committing further assistance, said that
initial impressions of Abu Mazen's cabinet were positive and
this would clear the way for a successful conference in
London.
