CDA thanked Al-Haroun for Kuwait's previous support for Afghanistan and other causes, and urged that the GOK consider new financial pledges at the upcoming conference. Al-Haroun stated that the GOK was "trying our best to help develop Afghanistan," and said that he was certain the GOK would participate in the conference, but offered no specifics about possible pledges. ¶2. (SBU) Also on December 21, the British and Afghan ambassadors met with MFA Undersecretary Khalid Al-Jarallah to deliver a joint demarche on this same issue. TUELLER
