During a meeting with the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister on January
8, the Ambassador urged the Kuwaitis to join the two
conventions to which they had not yet adhered: Convention
for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism and the
Convention for the Suppression of Terrorist Bombings. There
was some back and forth between the Foreign Minister and his
staff about whether these might be with the National Assembly
or at some other stage in the approval process. We will
follow up with the MFA to clarify the status and push again
for final adoption.
