On June 14, Emboff delivered reftel points to Department of
Foreign Affairs Human Rights Director Eamonn Mac Aodha. Mac
Aodha said that Ireland is "broadly on the same lines" as the
USG with regards to the UNESCO draft declaration on
bioethics. He added that Ireland had not received the text
of the declaration and would take time to consider the draft
before taking a more defined position on its contents. Mac
Aodha said that Ireland would communicate its position on the
draft as soon as it becomes available.
