UNCLAS DJIBOUTI 000625 SIPDIS STATE FOR IO/UNP, AF, AF/E E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: PREL DJ UN UNSC SUBJECT: DEMARCHING AFRICAN NATIONS AND THE AU ON UN REFORM REF: SECSTATE 119897 ¶1. (U) Pol/Econ delivered demarche per reftel 30 June to Americas Desk Officer in the Department of Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Omar Djama. Djama said he would be sure to pass the information to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, who left for the African Union Summit in Libya on 29 June. He added that while Djibouti will take the U.S. position into consideration, it would have to wait to make a decision until there was a position from both the African Union (AU) and the Arab League (AL). At that point, Djama said, Djibouti would have to weigh the similarities and differences between the AU and AL positions. RAGSDALE
