Following up on ref B demarche, Department of Foreign Affairs
and Trade (DFAT) Director for People Smuggling, Refugees, and
Immigration Lloyd Brodrick informed us on August 2 that
Australia would agree to accept 50 Uzbek asylum seekers
providing they pass customary character and background
checks.
