1. (SBU) Embassy has shared reftel talking points with Prime
Minister Dzurinda's foreign policy advisor, and will also
share them with experts in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
the week of August 8 (most of the lead people have been on
vacation during recent weeks).
2. (SBU) The issues surrounding Guantanamo detainees have not
received wide public attention in Slovakia. An aggressive
campaign to explain U.S. policy risks opening the issue for
public debate and sparking controversy where presently none
exists. We look forward to receiving additional fact sheets
and publicly releasable materials that Washington will be
providing on this issue, and will distribute them to key
media and academic contacts.
