On April 15, Lenka Truchla of the Ministry of Agriculture's
Department of Foodstuffs and Nutrition reported to econoff
that the GOS would probably abstain from the EU Standing
Regulatory Committee for Food and Animal Health's vote to
impose a certification requirement on imports of U.S. corn
gluten. The GOS would like additional information on this
subject and feels that the EU has rushed into action without
sufficient explanation of its rationale.
