SUBJECT: COLOMBIA'S CANDIDACY FOR UN SECURITY COUNCIL
The GOC has requested support, via dipnote DPM/CAI No 8083
dated February 27, for its candidacy for the UN Security
Council as a non-permanent member for the period 2008-2009 in
elections scheduled for the 62nd session of the UNGA. The
note (faxed to WHA/AND) lists as qualifications Colombia's
active membership in the UN since its inception and its
intention to work toward peace and international security.
