In a 9/1 meeting with Acting Foreign Minister Emilio Gimenez,
the Ambassador drew on reftel talking points to ask that the
GOP make a public show of political support and
congratulations to the Iraqi people. Gimenez said that he
would consult with Foreign Minister Rachid upon her return,
and that the GOP would look for an appropriate forum in which
to make a formal declaration.
