Subsequent to release of reftel b, Embassy received a response from Turkish authorities verifying that the Turkish Armed Forces is developing the UHF Jamming Program described in reftel A, case number 05-957032. On April 20, 2005, the MFA sent a Diplomatic Note confirming that Turkish Armed forces ordered one Interad Limited Model 5001 Disconnect Antenna (220-1200 MHz) from Interad Limited, located in Melfa, Virginia under the reftel license number. The Note also stated that the purpose of the UHF jamming program is to protect Turkish military forces against IEDs (improvised explosive devices). EDELMAN
