(U) CDA delivered reftel letter from President Bush addressed to the Amir, to Minister for Amiri Diwan Affairs Shaykh Nasser Mohammed al-Sabah April 25. Director of the Amir's Office Ibrahim al-Shatti and A/DCM sat in. Receipt of the letter was announced in the Kuwaiti media, as the Minister had said it would be, but the specific contents were not divulged. ¶2. (C) In response to the letter and CDA's oral presentation, Shaykh Nasser assured CDA that Kuwait understands and supports what we are trying to accomplish in Iraq. He went on to complain about the great damage being done by Al-Jazeera, Al-Arabiya and - to a lesser extent - Abu Dhabi satellite TV stations. He insisted that if the USG wanted to, it could fix Al-Jazeera's hostile slant "with one word" to the Qatari government. On the way out, Shatti suggested the USG coopt Lebanese TV stations to counter the poisonous propaganda of Al-Jazeera and others. He said many Lebanese want to be on America's side. MORAN
