(C) In a July 27 meeting with Emboff, Embassy of Egypt Second Secretary Ahmed El Sayed confirmed Turkish anti-TIP officials approached Egyptian Ambassador Ahamad Fathallah to propose a formal law enforcement and intelligence cooperation agreement between security officials from both governments to combat human trafficking and human smuggling. El Sayed said Mehmet Aydin, Turkish Security Directorate Deputy Head of Department for Combating Illegal Migration, called on Fathallah on June 8 to propose the agreement. During the meeting, according to El Sayed, Aydin asked Fathallah to identify a point of contact in the Egyptian Government with whom the Turkish Security Directorate can begin coordinating anti-TIP and anti-smuggling law enforcement activities. El Sayed said the Government of Egypt is considering the request, but has not yet replied to the GOT. ¶2.
