(U) On February 23, Embassy delivered reftel demarche to MFA
International Political Organizations Department Head Murat
Ates. Ates noted Turkey's past support for Israel's WEOG
membership and commented that Turkey usually favorably
evaluates such requests. Ates undertook to consult the MFA
Middle East Department on reftel request.
