1. (U) Acting PolCouns delivered ref A talking points
October 26 to Ashraf Zeitoon, Acting Deputy Director for the
Foreign Minister's private office. Zeitoon said he would
immediately forward the points to the military attache at the
Jordanian UN Mission in New York, as well as to the Jordanian
Armed Forces. He promised a formal GOJ response to our
questions as soon as possible.


2. (C) Ref B, from USDAO Amman, reports a Western military
officer stating that Jordan plans to deploy 800 troops to
Haiti as peacekeepers, along with 18 infantry fighting
vehicles. According to the officer, the advance party will
deploy on October 20 with the main body (an infantry
battalion) expected to deploy to Haiti on October 30.
