(C) Post delivered reftel points on Jaysh Al-Mahdi violence
at OOB as requested. Given the Ambassador's travel outside
the capital, the DCM contacted the Director of the FM's
private office, Ali al-Ayed. Initial reaction was
sympathetic to the need to call publicly for measures to
restore calm and restraint. Al-Ayed said he would forward
this request to FM Muasher today. The Ambassador and post
will follow up as necessary.
