NBC Kuwait informed post early this morning of the death
of NBC reporter David Bloom in Iraq today of natural
causes (cerebral hemorrhage). Mr. Bloom was embedded
with the U.S. Army's 3rd Infantry Division in Iraq. NBC
notified NOK of Mr. Bloom's death. The U.S. Army's
Mortuary Affairs office in Kuwait is making arrangements
for the immediate repatriation of Mr. Bloom's remains to
the United States. According to a U.S. Army Mortuary
Affairs officer, Mr. Bloom's remains will be repatriated
to Dover via military transport either tonight (April 6)
or tomorrow (April 7) as soon as flight arrangements can
be confirmed. Mr. Bloom's remains are now in Kuwait in
U.S. Army custody. An autopsy will be performed upon
arrival in Dover.
