1. (C) PolCouns on December 17 provided Foreign Minister
Muasher's private office director Ali al-Ayed and deputy
director Basheer Zoubi with copies of ref list of 37
Jordanian prisoners detained in Iraq. Noting that five
Jordanians on the list were released a week earlier, al-Ayed
promised to confirm the names of released prisoners. Al-Ayed
thanked the Embassy for following up on the issue, noting
that the GOJ had received significant pressure from members
of Parliament to resolve the matter.
