1. (U) As per REFTEL, responses to questions addressing
government fiscal transparency in Jordan are as follows:

b-There are no significant subnational levels of government
c-The Jordanian national budget is published in the Royal
Gazette, as well as in national newspapers and on the
Internet.

e-Articles 112 and 114 of the Jordanian Constitution, Fiscal
Regulation No. 3 (1994),and Budget Law No. 12 (2003) govern
public disclosure of revenues and expenditures in the budget.

i-The General Audit Bureau, which reports directly to the
Prime Minister, provides reports for Parliament and the
public on the financial integrity of government accounts.

m-The Jordanian government is firmly committed to fiscal
transparency and accountability and has instituted new
controls and procedures as part of economic reform. In
addition to developing audit standards and guidelines, the
Audit Bureau has instituted computerized financial and
auditing systems and adopted a strategic training plan to
maintain staff competence and awareness of auditing and
accounting issues and innovations. The Economic Consultative
Council and the Public Reform Task Force monitor transparency
and public sector finance management. The Department of
Statistics coordinates the collection and communication of
fiscal data between ministries and other government agencies
and is responsible for ensuring its accuracy.
n-Given the commitment to fiscal transparency mentioned above
on the part of the Government of Jordan, there are no current
USG sponsored programs and activities that promote accurate
disclosure of revenues and expenditures.
