1. (U) On November 11, Poloff conveyed reftel demarche urging
Jordan to oppose, or at least abstain on, Cuba's anti-embargo
UNGA resolution to Ayman Aamiri, Deputy Director of the MFA's
IO Department. Aamiri promised that the MFA would review the
information we provided and share it with Jordan's Mission in
New York as well. He noted, however, that Jordan,
historically, has always voted for the Cuba resolution and
expected it would do so again this year.
2. (C) The Ambassador later took advantage of a meeting with
Foreign Minister Muasher to raise the issue with him.
Muasher undertook to look into the matter, including the
possibility of a shift in the traditional Jordanian position.
