Aamiri noted that in 2001 Jordan had voted for the resolution in the First Committee, but then abstained in the final UNGA vote. PolCouns underlined that, this year as last year, the U.S. viewed the Iraqi resolution as a transparent propaganda ploy, that the scientific evidence on the subject has already been clearly established, and that we want to see the matter settled in the UNFC vote. To that end, we hoped Jordan could oppose the resolution in the UNFC. Aamiri promised to convey our points to Jordan's Mission in New York. GNEHM
