1. PURSUANT TO REF C, THE FOLLOWING IS A SHORT SUMMARY OF
RECENT DUTCH COUNTERNARCOTICS INITIATIVES IN SOUTH AMERICA
AND THE CARIBBEAN SINCE LAST POST SUBMISSION IN DECEMBER
1999.
2. PERU: THE NETHERLANDS HAS PROVIDED PERU WITH
APPROXIMATELY 10,000,000 (TEN MILLION) DOLLARS IN DEBT RELIEF
AS PLEDGED AT THE PERU DONOR CONFERENCE, WHICH IS TO BE USED
FOR COUNTERNARCOTICS PROGRAMS. THIS DEBT RELIEF WAS
PREVIOUSLY REPORTED AS PLEDGED (REF B).
3. CARIBBEAN: THE NETHERLANDS, ALONG WITH EU PARTNERS,
SUPPORT THE PROJECT MANAGEMENT OFFICE (PMO) IN BARBADOS AND
CONTINUES TO ENCOURAGE REGIONAL MARITIME COOPERATION IN THE
REGION (REFS A AND B).
