SUBJECT: DEFER NON-ESSENTIAL TRAVEL TO THE UAE
1. Due to an overwhelming number of VIP visitors and
local events anticipated in the month of February,
Mission UAE requests that all non-essential travel to
the UAE be deferred until March 15, 2010.
2. Mission UAE will receive an OIG Inspection and at
least four VIP visits, as well as host national day
events in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai, from February 14 to
March 10, 2010, and does not/not have the resources to
support any additional visitors during this period. In
addition, the Dubai Shopping Festival begins the weekend
of January 29 and runs through the end of February.
Hotel space in Dubai is filling up quickly and, where
rooms are available, may exceed per diem. Delegations
with approved travel to Dubai must provide fiscal data
as soon as possible so Post can lock-in reservations.
3. USG visitors should anticipate that COM is unlikely
to approve additional country clearance requests to
visit Abu Dhabi or Dubai between now and mid-March.
Post appreciates the understanding and cooperation of
USG visitors and look forward to welcoming official
visits after March 15.
