Secretary Clinton to Foreign Minister Balazs. There

Dear Mr. Minister:

Thank you for your letter and your commitment to the
Community of Democracies (CD). I am pleased to learn of
the vigorous efforts in which your government has
already engaged as an active member of the CD. The
United States continues to believe that the CD will be
most successful through projects and initiatives
supported by a broad coalition of CD members. We look
forward to your government's leadership on the Working
Group for Promoting Democracy and Responding to National
and Transnational Threats to Democracy.

Your staff may feel free to contact the Department of
State's Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor
(DRL) directly for future initiatives. DRL's Office of
Multilateral and Global Affairs will contact the
Hungarian Embassy here for relevant information
regarding the working group.

on this important endeavor.
