On January 19, USAID Mission Director delivered reftel A demarche
to the MFA's Vice Minister of Development Cooperation and acting
Foreign Minister, Jaime Miranda, thanking him for the GOES's
generous assistance to the Haiti earthquake recovery effort. The
Mission Director noted that it was particularly impressive that the
GOES responded so quickly, even while struggling with the results
of its own flooding disaster in November (see reftel B). According
to Miranda, the GOES cannot offer any additional assistance to
Haiti at this time.
