1. (SBU) Emboff presented USG concerns about the Islamic
Republic of Iran Shipping Line's (IRISL) uninsured fleet to
Czech MFA Middle East Department officer Anita Grmelova on
February 24. She noted that she was aware of this issue
since it has been a topic of discussion within EU fora.
2. (C) Grmelova indicated that these discussions have focused
on potential additional EU sanctions against Iran targeting
the Iranian energy and transportation industries. She noted
that the EU plans to see how things develop within the United
Nations first, before they consider adopting additional EU
measures. Grmelova thanked emboff for our details and stated
that the MFA would notify the relevant entities within the
Czech insurance industry.
