Anna Maembe, Acting Director of Tanzania's National Environmental
Management Council, confirmed to Econoff February 9 that Tanzania
had associated in writing with the Copenhagen Accord during the week
of Feb. 1. In an earlier discussion in follow-up to Ambassador's
demarche to FM Membe (ref B),Maembe noted that Tanzania takes
climate change seriously because of its domestic impact, including
the threat to popular tourist destinations. She stressed the GOT's
interest in working with the U.S. on adaptive measures.
