1. In response to REF A, MFA Team Leader for Latin American
Affairs, Kit Clausen told POLOFF on January 28 that Denmark
understands and supports the American efforts in Haiti, and
emphasized Denmark's own role with relief efforts there. She
underscored that Denmark was committed to the coordination of
international efforts and stressed that aid needs direction
as well as substance. After the initial surge of money sent
to Haiti (REF B),Denmark will likely wait for the UN to
establish a long term recovery plan at the upcoming Donor
Conference in March before it contributes more state aid.
