1. (U) Australian officials will discuss U.S. proposals and
views on CoP15 decisions with appropriate U.S. counterparts
in a preparatory digital video conference on February 24.
Post passed information in ref A to Department of
Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts (DEWHA) and the
Foreign Affairs and Trade on January 28. On February 17,
DFAT confirmed that the GOA will conduct the DVC as planned
and provided copies of an agenda and letter to the CITES
chair on Australia's position on Decision 14.81 on whales
(ref B). Post will follow up with any updates to Australia's
positions following the DVC.
