1. (SBU) Mission Abuja received a diplomatic note, dated February
2, 2010, from the Nigerian Foreign Ministry (MFA) formally
requesting agrement for Nigeria's recently-nominated Ambassador to
the United States, Professor Adeblowale Ibidapo Adefuye. The text
of this diplomatic note follows:

The Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the
Federal Republic of Nigeria presents its compliments to the Embassy
of the United States of America and has the honour to inform the
esteemed Mission that the President, Commander-in-Chief H.E. Umaru
Musa Yar'Adua, (GCFR) has graciously approved the nomination of
Ambassador (Professor) Adeblowale Ibidapo Adefuye as the new
Ambassador Extra-Ordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nigeria to the
United States of America.
Accordingly, the Ministry would appreciate the kind assistance of
the esteemed Mission to obtain agreement for the nomination of
Ambassador (Professor) Adeblowale Ibidapo Adefuye, whose Curriculum
Vitae is attached.
The Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the
Federal Republic on Nigeria avails itself of this opportunity to
renew to the Embassy of the United States of America, the
assurances of its highest consideration.
