WORKSHOP
REF: STATE 9099
Polchief discussed reftel points February 9 with Andreas
Launer, MFA Unit Chief for IAEA, CTBTO Prep Com, and NPT.
Launer said it was unlikely that the MFA would be able to
send representatives to the Global Initiative to Combat
Nuclear Terrorism Model Guidelines Document Workshop
scheduled for April 20-22. He said there were four other
conferences taking place during that time requiring the
participation of members of the MFA's small non-proliferation
department. He said he would share information about the
event with colleagues at the Interior and Defense ministries,
and would let Polchief know if any would attend. Launer
added that the MFA supports the initiative, and appreciates
the efforts of the USG.
