1. (SBU) On October 23 Ambassador delivered reftel demarche
on the U.S. priorities of the 64th UN General Assembly Third
Committee to Malta's Minster of Foreign Affairs and Deputy
Prime Minister Tonio Borg. FM Borg listened closely to the
points but was non-committal.
2. (SBU) On October 27, U.S. Desk officer at the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs Maria Depasquale contacted DCM to offer
Malta's thanks "for the U.S. support for the EU's annual
resolution on human rights in Burma and DPRK." Regarding the
other points, she said that Malta "is on the same wavelength
as the US" and would "consider the U.S. position during
ongoing discussions at the appropriate sessions."
