USUN's Host Country Section was advised February 2 that
Lublin Dilja, Deputy Permanent Representative of Albania to
the UN, died on February 1. 2009 of cancer at Memorial Sloan
Kettering Hospital in Manhattan. He had been ill for several
months. USUN Host Country Mincouns expressed sympathy to the
Albanian Mission and the Dilja family on behalf of Ambassador
Rice and all of USUN. Per standard procedure, USUN notified
both the New York City Police Department's Intelligence
Division and the New York City Medical Examiner's Office of
Mr. Dilja's death, and provided the Albanian Mission with a
list of undertakers who have dealt with the deaths of members
of the UN diplomatic community in the past. USUN understands
that Mr. Dilja's remains will be interred in New York, and
his widow and their children will remain here until the end
of the school year.
