(C) Japan is aware of the crisis Pakistan faces with rising
numbers of internally displaced persons and wants to be of
assistance, according to MOFA Southwest Asia Division
Principal Deputy Director Aya Yoshida. MOFA is requesting
funds for a two-year emergency grant assistance program to
address this problem in a supplemental budget proposal that
will be submitted to the Diet by Prime Minister Aso's
government. Yoshida was unable to say how much money was
being requested and could not speculate on how much would
ultimately be made available.
