1. (SBU) Econoff delivered demarche points contained in ref
to Ministry of Foreign Affairs' (MOFA) Nonproliferation,
Science, and Nuclear Energy Division official Isami Takada
December 22. Takada commented his office is already aware of
the designation, but he welcomed the additional background
information on the companies involved. He noted too that
Japan has already acted against all entities designated by
the UN Security Council. He agreed to make the additional
background information available to his counterparts within
MOFA and at the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry.
