1. (SBU) On 06 April poloff passed reftel talking points
regarding the USG candidacy for a seat on the UN Human Rights
Council to Nana Shonia, First Secretary of the North America
Division in the Department of Americas of MFA. Shonia
expressed her understanding of the issue and promised to pass
the details to the MFA's UN section for further review.
Separately, Deputy Foreign Minister Nalbandov told the DCM
that he believed the United States was doing the "right
thing" in seeking a seat on the HRC.
