1. On 4 September, Poloff shared reftel USG priorities with
Director of the MFA's International Organizations Division
Eva-Maria Liimets, UN Affairs Desk Officer Helen Kaljulate, and USA
Desk Officer Jaan Salulaid. Liimets expressed gratitude for the
U.S. UNGA 64 priorities and affirmed that they were very similar to
Estonian interests at the UN.




2. Kaljulate described Estonia's priorities as follows: Security,
with an emphasis on Afghanistan, Georgia and the Middle East;
Climate Change; Cyber Crime; UNSC Reform and Gender Issues. She
emphasized that Estonia was very pleased to see Gender Issues as a
U.S. priority. She added that Estonia was planning to produce a
statement of support for U.S. initiatives in this area. Liimets
also noted that they are very supportive of USG efforts for UN
reform, especially in regards to the Fifth Committee and the Human
Rights Council.
