1. (SBU) Sweden is currently testing one resident for possible H1N1
Influenza A infection. The woman had recently visited the United
States and displayed suspicious but mild flu symptoms for several
days. However, because the subject was never hospitalized and has
already recovered, her tested viral levels may be too low to confirm
her infection.
2. (SBU) Sweden currently has issued a travel advisory for Mexico
and announced an agreement with a number of pharmaceutical companies
to produce up to 18 million doses of influenza vaccine if necessary.
Sweden already has the capability of treating groups at risk with
anti-viral medication. According to Todd Webber, CDC Liaison at the
European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) in
Stockholm, Sweden expects that, should the WHO raise its pandemic
alert level to 6, the European Commission will issue a travel
advisory against areas of "sustained transmission." While this
advisory is unlikely to specifically mention the United States, this
ECDC negotiated language would imply as much.
3. (SBU) Stockholm is issuing a Warden message to go out May 4 or 5
using Department's reftel template.
