SUBJECT: STOCKHOLM REQUESTS TWO INTERNS FOR FALL 2009

(U) Per reftel, Post requests two interns for Fall 2009.
Post workload will substantially increase during the Swedish
EU Presidency, July-December 2009. We will have three
interns for Summer 2009. We request two interns for Fall
2009 to augment our limited staff and continue to help with
the increased workload throughout the remainder of the
Swedish EU Presidency.

A.) Number of internships offered: 2;

B.) Language Requirements: Swedish preferred but not required;

C.) Other Special Post Criteria: POL/ECON - Major in
international relations, international business or a related
field; RSO - no specific major required;

D.) Section of Internship Assignment: POL/ECON; RSO;

F.) Summary of Typical Duties: POL/ECON - Intern will assist
in research and analysis of political and economic issues.
Intern will participate in drafting of reporting cables and
policy memoranda. They will also attend meetings with
relevant counterparts from host government and will assist
with arrangements for official USG visitors;

RSO - Intern will assist in research and analysis of RSO
issues. Specifically, RSO intern would develop plans for the
Emergency Action Plan and place it in the CEPA with RSO
approval. Intern would participate in drafting of cables and
policy memorandums. They will also attend meetings with
police counterparts and be provided the opportunity to work
within different parts of the RSO office, such as the local
guard force, surveillance detection team and FSNI's to manage
property inventory and data entry needs.

G.) Fall interns must serve a minimum of ten weeks during the
period August 31, 2009 through December 31, 2009;

H.) Post-provided housing is limited during the Fall 2009
season. Post does not have any vacant housing projected.
Post personnel are being asked for possible space in their
homes for interns. If home stays are unavailable, Post
estimates cost for room and board at $1000 (USD) per month.
Post will assist in providing contact names for referrals
outside the Embassy. Hotels are also available but prices
vary depending on availability and season;

I.) There are no visa requirements for American citizens
residing in Sweden for less than three months;

J.) Post would like to make the selection. Robert Silverman,
CDA, is the person designated to make final Post selection.
