1. SUMMARY: The Office of Logistics Management is
pleased to announce two workshops for the Integrated
Logistics Management System (ILMS) for IRM Program
Property users. Current WPAS users (see para three) are
invited to participate in one of the two-day workshops.
Attendance at one of these workshops is extremely
valuable, as posts will be able to go live immediately
afterwards with ILMS Asset Management for their IRM
program property currently tracked in WPAS. END
SUMMARY.

-------------- --------------
Regional Workshops of ILMS for IRM Program Property
-------------- --------------

2. ILMS workshops for IRM Program Property are
scheduled for:

Session 1: June 23 - 24.

registration_form&conf_id=679

Please follow the links above for information on the
ILMS workshops.

3. During each two-day workshop, current cleared
American WPAS representatives at post will train on both
ILMS Basic Record Keeping functionality and Physical
Inventory functionality using a hands-on, practical
application training approach. In addition, a refresher
course on IRM Program Property policy will be offered
during the session. A physical inventory scanner and
software will be provided to each IRM Program Property
user during the training. All sessions will be held at
SA-15, Room 3150, 1800 North Kent Street, Rosslyn,
Virginia from 8am to 5pm. SA-15 is a two minute walk
from the Orange and Blue line Rosslyn Metro station, or
from the State Department shuttle.

4. Only cleared American WPAS representatives at Posts
which have submitted their FY-2008 WPAS Inventory
Certification will be eligible to attend. Please note
that WPAS users at Posts scheduled for integrated ILMS
deployments need not reply, as they will receive ILMS
training during the integrated ILMS deployment.

--------------
Registering for the Regional Workshops
--------------

5. Current cleared American WPAS representatives at
post who would like to attend one of the ILMS for
Program Property workshops should register using the
links listed for each session in Para 2, above, or
contact Kristian Houck at HouckKJ@state.gov for
additional information. The selected participants (a
limited number of spaces are available) will be
contacted by email prior to the regional workshops.
Applications must be received no later than June 12,

2009. All travel and per diem expenses are to be borne
by Post. Travelers will make their own hotel and
transportation arrangements.

--------------
Why Upgrade to ILMS?
--------------

6. ILMS is a centralized, web-based application that
provides an easy-to-access property management and
inventory control system. The complete lifecycle of an
asset can be tracked and maintained using this online
software suite. ILMS eliminates the need to send cables
in order to transfer, modify, and dispose of IRM Program
Property. ILMS allows Posts to maintain their inventory
online.

7. ILMS provides IRM Program Property users autonomy
and increased visibility over their inventory. With
ILMS, asset records can be modified and disposed
directly in the system, eliminating the need to send
updates and disposals to Washington via cable. In
addition, assets can be transferred electronically to
other Posts, eliminating the need to rely on cables to
Washington to perform the transfer. Assets that are

STATE 00049967 002 OF 002

disposed in ILMS can be reinstated with their original
asset record information, eliminating the need for
manual re-entry of the items. Receiving, location
transfer, and disposal documents can be generated in
ILMS, eliminating the need to manually complete them
outside of the system. Physical Inventories of IRM
Program Property will be completed with new scanners
that provide on-screen validation and reconciliation of
property information. For more information about ILMS,
visit us online at the ILMS Knowledgebase at
http://askilms.a.state.gov.

8. Please note that eScore and ILMS for IRM Program
Property are two separate systems used for two different
purposes. EScore, a configuration management system,
will not be replaced by ILMS, the Department of State's
compliant property management system. While use of both
systems is mandatory at the current time, IRM and A/LM
are working together on a more state-of-the-art process
for maintaining detailed equipment configuration and IT
asset tracking using modern discovery tools on the
network integrated in real time with ILMS Asset
Management.
We hope to have this solution in place in approximately
18 months.

9. Minimize considered.
