REF: (A) Action Memo by U/S Kennedy dated May 1, 2009 (B) Sections
652, 653, 920, AND 925 of the U.S. Department of State Standardized
Regulations
1. On Sunday, April 26, 2009, Under Secretary of State for
Management, Patrick F. Kennedy directed that Post (Hardship)
Differential rates for all diplomatic and consular posts in Mexico be
raised by 5% for two pay periods. This decision was reaffirmed in
writing on Friday, May 1, 2009. This action was taken due to the
restrictions on USG personnel given the Government of Mexico's
policies imposed to counter the spread and impact of the H1N1 virus.
The temporary increase will expire at the conclusion of pay period 10
on Saturday 23 May 2009.
2. Questions regarding implementation may be directed to the Office
of Allowances at ALLOWANCESO@STATE.GOV or 202-261-8700.
